Trying to “Covet” This One, Curious One…

a vampire and a gargoyle in the center of a school

My apologies, Curious One. It’s been a few weeks. I knew going into it that this series would be draining, but man…let’s just say I did not Covet this! There is so much drama and eye-rolling going on in my world because of it!

We are on the third book of Tracy Wolff’s bestselling Crave series, titled, Covet. It’s very interesting to me, that each character when not focused on acts like a very mature adult.  Until you get more story told from their point of view and suddenly, they’re just like all the other human teenagers.

Before you read on, if you need a recap, make sure you read the Curiosities on Crave and Crush by Tracy Wolff!

Conclusion

Perhaps, I’m struggling with it so much because of the immortality of the creatures. I mean, Jaxon and Hudson are over 200 years old in reality, yet they both act very much like the typical trope-y 16 year-olds in almost every YA novel out there. Now, I love myself a good trope on occasion, but could this series get any more of them crammed into one series?  Keep in mind, we are only halfway through the series and it’s been what…6 months in their timeline? Two of which she was spent in stone-state-limbo that we have yet to be revealed and every single other month of her existence in the world of Katmere Academy has been spent foiling plots of death and revenge.

Don’t get me wrong here, I actually really am enjoying the mythology in this world and the uniqueness that Wolff is slowly building for us, but it’s honestly more exhausting to read these books than it is to clean my whole house right now.

I was hoping to get a time jump in Covet but nothing of the sort happened. We were introduced to a few more characters that I think are going to come into play again in the last book(s) but it probably will feel like an eternity spent getting to them.

Did You Want to “Crush” Book Two of the “Crave” Series?

Female Gargoyle in a Graveyard. A Creative expression for the "Crave" Series, book two "Crush" by Tracy Wolff.

Ooookay, Curious One. I just finished Crush. Yup, book two of the Crave series by Tracy Wolff. With exhaustion, I have to say, that it really only got good in the last quarter.

When it got good, it got GOOD!

I haven’t read the two chapters in the end from Hudson’s point of view, but by the time you get to the end of this, I will have.  I don’t want those chapters to skew my thoughts yet!

So, to get started, I was trying to find some information on Tracy Wolff.  It’s all sort of scattered between reviews and I can’t say for sure if any of it is fact from her own mouth.  It does appear that she was an English professor at one time and now might be teaching writing to local college students, but I can’t confirm that yet.  I’ll keep looking into it…

Deciphering Wolff’s “Crave”: Themes and Flaws in This Slow Burn

Grace enters a new life at a new school in Crave by Tracy Wolff

It’s been some time, Curious One. A long time since I’ve sat down and read a book… I found this series, I’m positive you’ve heard of it before, and I said to myself “use this to get back into Time for a Book!”  So, here I am, craving to get back into it!

…It’s finally time for a book…

I genuinely thought this series was much older than it is, thinking it was started in like 2015.  However, apparently, the first novel was published in 2020… Who knew?!  It caught massive amounts of attention rapidly. Like the Twilight series, pretty much every YA reader and Fantasy readers alike had tried reading it.  Because of that, I of course did my best to stay away from it.

Hide’n Go Seek – When The Seeker Becomes The Killer

hide'n go seek

I couldn’t wait any longer, Curious One!  Hide’n Go Seek, the second installment of the Psychic Vision series by my new favorite paranormal author Dale Mayer took me on an incredible ride!  If you remember, I read the first book of the series, Tuesday’s Child a few months ago and as soon as I found Hide’n Go Seek, I was ready to step back into the world she created for us!

Reread Digging the Wolf – I promise It Get’s Better

digging the wolf

Phew!  We made it, Curious One!  We got through each of the five books in the Wolf Night’s collection!  I’m not sure I’ve ever read so many books in a row filled with shifting alpha male personas, but it was worth the experience. I have to say, my own curiosity has been fully satiated for now. Regarding the shifter world of alpha males, that is….  The fifth and final book in the collection is called Digging the Wolf by Steffanie Holmes.  At first glance, it is kind of dry and boring and grasping at some sort of storyline to drive the reader until the end.  However, I ended up reading it a second time before talking to you about it and it made up for some of my first impressions!  Let’s “dig” in!  😉

Savage Surrender Takes You by Surprise With Love at First Sight

savage surrender

Hey, hey Curious One!  I’m back at it here with the fourth book in the Wolf Nights collection, Savage Surrender: A Dire Wolves Mission by Ellis Leigh.  Super short and packed full of action, Savage Surrender wasn’t that bad!  It held all of the usual tropes that you find within a shifter book, but they weren’t too over-the-top!  You know what I’m talking about here.  Alpha commands that are obeyed unwillingly, hot and steamy sex, alpha personalities, fights to the death, mated to a stranger with one look, etc.

Chill Factor Keeps You Shivering Until The Killer is Revealed

chill factor

Hey Curious One!  It’s been a killer week for me, and I was desperate for a break from all these shifters!  I decided to dive into the world of Chill Factor by Sandra Brown.  She’s a new author for me, I’ve never read her work before.  I was a bit shocked to discover that Chill Factor was originally published in 2005!  I’ll explain why below as we dig into Brown’s world today.
